Swiftbassoon Reeds are handcrafted and wonderfully responsive reeds which exhibit a full and vibrant sound across all registers. Whereas most bassoon reeds carry one dominant overtone frequency, Swift reeds have multiple strong frequencies which translates to a sound rich in tonal color and clarity. This reed style developed from Dr. Swift's experiences as an orchestral, chamber, and solo performer, utilizing the same reed for every setting and chair.
All reeds undergo a thorough play testing and break in process. Dr. Swift plays on every reed for one hour to assure it is sold in great condition. He only sells reeds that he would feel comfortable playing on himself, and he passes that expertise and familiarity on to his customers!
