Reeds 'n Stuff Bassoon Profiling Machine
The Reeds 'n Stuff Bassoon Profiling Machine is a very high-quality machine. The profiler is designed to remove bark from the stick of cane, creating what will eventually become the blades of the reed. The profiling machine has two scribing blades that create the fold and define the ledge of the reed, and they have guards to prevent them from moving unexpectedly, a nice feature. The barrel is not the typical round, but holds the cane very well with thoughtful screws on the clamps that are easy to tighten and loosen. The barrel has several scores on each end to make lining up the cane very precise and easy: included is a center line (along what will be the spine), and lines toward the sides of the cane, so you can see much easier if the stick is line up truly straight. There is an adjustment knob to set how thin you want the fold to be, and an adjustment bar that can control the slope of the profile. Instructions for changing the settings are included, as are Allen wrenches for set up. And the base includes two pre-drilled holes so that you can mount it to a large piece of wood or a dedicated table. Thoughtful tweaks over other machines make the Reeds 'n Stuff profiling machine a pleasure to use!
