Hard Arkansas Stone
This stone is 4"x2"x3/4" and ranges from 800-1500 grit. It is a fine grade stone which works well for maintaining a fine edge on reed knives. This stone is recommended in the Landwell book, "Reed Knife Sharpening" found in the "Books" section of this website. It comes in a cedar box.
Quarried in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma, the Hard Arkansas stone is natural stone with a high content of microcrystalline quartz. Because these stones are sold based on density and hardness, the grain size, varies between about 800 and 1500 grit.
