Description
Sandy Stimson EH Reeds have a warm full sound. Sandy's English horn reeds are handmade and begin with splitting tube cane, gouging on a Ross gouger and shaping on a Gilbert 1. Each reed comes with wire to help control the openings and plastic tubing to keep the reed on the bocal.

Sandy Stimson is Principal oboe of the Bozeman Symphony. In Breckenridge, Colorado she is the Principal oboe of the Breckenridge Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, a position she has held since 2004. She holds the English horn position with the Billings Symphony and can be heard performing with the Great Falls and Helena Symphonies.
Previous orchestral engagements include Principal oboe of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal oboe of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, second oboe/English horn with the Breckenridge Music Festival Chamber Orchestra, Principal Oboe of the Billings Symphony and Acting Associate Principal oboe of the Omaha Symphony. Sandy was acting instructor of oboe at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, for one semester, and adjunct faculty at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana for four years. She also maintained a studio of 35 private oboe students ranging from beginners to adults in Billings. Sandy earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and a Master’s degree from Yale University. Her principal teachers include Richard Killmer (private study at the Eastman School of Music), Ronald Roseman, and Mark Hill.
