Stanley Razor Blades

These are great razor blades for shaping cane, clipping reed tips, scoring bassoon reeds, or anything else you need a sharp cutting edge for. Stanley blades stayed sharp longer than any other blades we have tried other than GEM and they re-sharpened well. Our typical use for these blades have been for shaping oboe cane where we sharpened one to two pieces of cane on the new blade and then sharpened the blade quickly on an extra-fine sharpening stone (as low an angle as possible on each side). Then we shaped 8-10 more pieces of cane sharpening after each piece. The blade was thrown away in our special dull blade jar for safe disposal when full.
