Ortwein Contrabassoon Reamer
Mark Ortwein's Contrabassoon Reamer is designed to remove wood material from the inside of the tubes of your contrabassoon reeds. This will enhance the fit of your reed on your bocal, making the reed more stable. The reamer features a lock stop, adjustable with an Allen wrench, to control depth of reaming, a stained wood ergonomic handle, and includes a rubber tip cover for hand and tool bag protection. This is a spiral reamer, meaning the flutes (cutting edges) go in a spiral around the cutting length rather than as a straight edge. It has four flutes, which cut very smoothly. This is a phenomenal tool at a great price point.
Mark Ortwein is the bassoon professor at the University of Indianapolis, and a freelance musician on bassoon, contrabassoon, and saxophone in that area.
