About Dr. Romine

Ryan Romine began playing the bassoon because his high school band already had enough saxophones. Twelve years later, he found himself gainfully employed and profoundly grateful for the popularity of the saxophone. Dr. Romine studied under Christopher Weait at Ohio State University before completing his masters and doctorate under Micheal Kroth at Michigan State University. He is currently serving as the Assistant Dean for Recruitment and Associate Professor of Bassoon at Shenandoah University in Winchester Va.

His passion for music and his students is clearly demonstrated by his work in training bassoonists who are capable technicians and sensitive interpreters of their art. The realization of this ideal is achieved by empowering them with the skills and work ethic necessary for success in performance education and other high-level graduate work.

In addition to his work teaching, Dr, Romine has performed with Shenandoah Conservatory Wind Ensemble, Shenandoah Conservatory Orchestra, Van Buren Winds, Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Opera Roanoke, as well as at the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, and multiple Double Reed Society Conferences.
