These reeds are amazing! I have been playing on Brundage reeds most of my pre- and post-college life, and recently, I've not been getting the high-note response that I need from them. On a quest for new reeds, I bout a selection from Hodge Products to try out. Instantly, I feel in love with the amazing finishing on the wrapping and the "candy coating" - beautiful! ...but how did they play? The first play through was about 20 cents flat, but the tone was rich and gorgeous. After clipping the tip, it was perfect - in tune and had that same full, rich sound. I bought two more Barry Trent reeds (a model 1 and a 2) to make sure it wasn't a fluke...nope. These reeds are consistently gorgeous in sound and response is consistent throughout all registers. I have personally found them to play 20 cents flat (like my first BT reed), but a minimal snip to the tip does the job. If you're hesitating about spending $30 on a reed, don't. These reeds are so worth it!
