About Maarten Vonk
Maarten Vonk worked as a professional bassoon and contra player for 15 years with the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Orchestra and the Schoenberg Ensemble in The Netherlands. Playing on its own was not quite rewarding enough and, with a skilled pair of hands, moving into repairs on his own achievement proved a logical step. Things moved quickly after that, with more and more people coming to Maarten to help them out of a tight spot. Things became serious in 1981, when the business was set up. 25 years later, in 2006, he celebrated his silver anniversary with the publication of a collection of his experiences and ideas: the publication of “Een Mooie Bundel, praktisch handboek voor fagot”. The English translation appeared a year later, entitled “A Bundle of Joy, a practical handbook for the Bassoon”. This book was introduced to the public in New York, and the stock of 400 copies that Maarten had brought along was sold out in four days.
