Product Description

A traditional American scrape reed, designed to provide a warm sound, cushioned response, solid pitch and intonation and excellent tonal range.  Suitable for professional oboists and advanced students.

General information and tips for Jeffrey Reinhardt reeds:

  • Jeffrey uses fine reed cane grown in the Var region of France, processed on traditional gouging machines and shapers for all reeds, including student reeds.
  • He uses high-quality synthetic cork  staples for all reeds unless otherwise specified, which allows for a reasonably priced reed that does not compromise on durability or tone quality.
  • While every climate is different, and players should trust their own judgement, Jeffrey recommends dipping his reeds in room temperature water for 30 seconds and resting them on a surface for 2-3 minutes to hydrate them before playing, rather than soaking directly in water.  This prevents  them from becoming "waterlogged," which hinders response.
