Product Description

A standard two-piece style baroque oboe reed designed to provide a warm, rich tone and cushioned response.  In general, two-piece reed setups offer greater stability, reliability of response, and comfortable resistance compared with one-piece reeds, and are an ideal choice for oboists new to the baroque oboe.   Please note: includes upper staple only.  Understaples assumed to have been supplied with the instrument.

General information and tips for Jeffrey Reinhardt reeds:

  • Jeffrey uses fine reed cane grown in the Var region of France, processed on traditional gouging machines and shapers for all reeds, including student reeds.
  • While every climate is different, and players should trust their own judgement, Jeffrey recommends dipping his reeds in room temperature water for 30 seconds and resting them on a surface for 2-3 minutes to hydrate them before playing, rather than soaking directly in water.  This prevents  them from becoming "waterlogged," which hinders response.
